On Sunday, Andrea Balmer, Lead Officer of the VCSE Mental Health Alliance, and Adam Crampsie, Chief Executive at Everyturn, attended the launch of the Speak Their Name suicide memorial quilt in Northumberland.
Held at Alnwick Garden, this important event brought together families and friends who have been impacted by the loss of loved ones to suicide. Coming together in remembrance, families and friends created a memorial quilt, with each piece of fabric representing a person and their life lost to suicide.
Led by Jayne Walsham and supported through the Northumberland VCSE Mental Health Alliance, and North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB), this project serves not only as a reminder of the tragic loss of life, but also as a meaningful way to honour those who have passed and acknowledge the impact their absence has had on their loved ones and the wider community.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project together. We’d also like to thank Alnwick Garden for donating their wonderful space for the event. We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of this meaningful project, which provides a space for remembrance and connection.
