Investors in the Environment Bronze Award

We’re really pleased to share that we’ve been awarded the Bronze Investors in the Environment award in recognition of our sustainability work to date.

Sam CassidySam Cassidy, Net Zero and Sustainability Lead here at Everyturn said:

I’m so pleased our sustainability work has been recognised through the Bronze Investors in the Environment accreditation. We are making positive changes to our sites and services that will reduce the impact they have on the environment and increase social value.”

“The award is an achievement for all of our colleagues that we can continue to build on as we deliver our far-reaching sustainability programme and work towards our 2030 net zero target.”

Our sustainability work was audited by external auditor, Genee Consulting, to review our progress against the Investors in the Environment Awards criteria. To achieve Bronze Level, an organization is required to have established the foundation of an Environmental Management System. This foundation provides the organization with the framework needed to continue to develop and implement sustainable practices.

The auditing process

The auditing process assessessed five key areas of our Environmental Management Systems (EMS). These areas included:

  • Environmental policy
  • Resource management and monitoring
  • Progress against targets
  • Action planning including social/environmental projects
  • Communication

What they found at Everyturn

  • Excellent communication across the organisation, with staff members integrated and engaged in the sustainability agenda.
  • Very thorough environmental policy, with clear evidence that there is senior management leadership driving action within the organisation.
  • Strong commitment and projects supporting staff wellbeing, from their therapeutic community garden to mindfulness sessions.
  • Ambitious Net Zero targets in place and clear commitment to identify carbon reduction pathways to achieve them.
  • Good external reporting and communication of high-level commitments through the Carbon Reduction Plan.
  • Demonstrated a good understanding of the organisations resources and how they can be reduced over time.

We’re looking forward to embedding the suggestions from the audit into our sustainability programme, and continue working towards the silver award.

What we’ll do next

  • A new organisation-wide waste management policy and plan.
  • Specific reduction targets for certain resources we use (gas, electric, water, waste, transport)
  • Refining data collection for all direct and indirect carbon emission categories.
  • A new travel policy and travel plans/assistance to support more sustainable travel

We’re really proud of this achievement, and we’re excited to use the feedback from the audit to continue our work on sustainability and doing our part in protecting people and planet.
